Beautifully done Craig........Love the dark background.......it may be the reduction for posting here that has made your sharpening appear overcooked?

I always think that processing a photograph of a wire haired animal, be it a terrier or a chimp, quite a challenge, the same goes for getting the sharpening on a full human beard just right.

Yeah I thought that too to be honest that it looked over sharpened.

The original looked ok? maybe I should adjust it and repost as I think you could be right the down scaling for the forum might have had something to do with it?

 

OUCH... just seen the large view of it on here... It looks totally over sharpened. I will definitely have to revisit this image.
