Whilst there seems to have been lots of wonderful, colourful landscapes this week, I am going to choose one from Korkys '52/week 9' set.

Something a little different and something that shows you can shoot a photograph of a corn field away from the norm and still get a great result - well done Korky

Well, by 'eck - I'm truly gobsmacked! Thanks Colin, you've brightened up a dull Sunday evening.

I must be honest and say my money was on either Fuji for his great portrait, Pauln for the superb Kingfisher shots or Martyn for the the smashing landscapes.

I took the original image with the intention of turning it into an abstract and it took a good few attempts in the Photoshop twiddler to get the colour right along with a spread of lines that I liked.

Time to open a celebratory bottle of vin rouge. Cheers!

Korky......

The mind pictures you paint are truly wonderful...........I can almost smell the aroma's wafting around your place of incarceration............

..........Boiled cabbage.......Drying Tenna Pads.........Smoky nooks and crannies..........soggy, mouldy face cloths.........The lingering aroma left after a Matronly Hug............The bathrooms..........

.........Swonderful!

Well, I finally plucked up the courage to go down for breakfast - there was the usual chatter and noise as I entered the dining room and then suddenly, all went deathly silent. As I made my way to my place on table 7, Dorothy Flange (a retired brewery worker from Hull) stood up and shouted "Oh, here he is now, Mr bloody Korkscrew. Thinks he is somebody just cos he did an Etch a Sketch and put it in some poxy competition. Well I've got news for you, Korkscrew".

At that, she dipped her spoon into her sloppy Weetabix, scooped up a dollop and flicked it in my direction. It splattered on the left lens of my new Stella McCartney specs, then slid off onto my top lip and dribbled down my chin. A great cheer went up from the room and I made my way to the exit.

Bloody Philistines! -  I'm beginning to think Sunnyside Meadows isn't the proper place for an artiste.

I hope you don't mind Korky, but I've written to Matron telling her that you would rather have a statue of your lower half erected in the away supporters terrace at Preston North End than share accommodation with Dorothy Flange a moment longer, free samples of Kingston Sandy Mild & Bitter notwithstanding. Cockroaches would be preferable, and with that in mind, I wondered if she could arrange a transfer to the Leylandii View Home instead?

If you regard this as unwarranted interference, I will send my trained budgie to dive into the post box and retrieve the letter - the post goes at 12:30 pm (in P.Pat-land, but their clocks are 3 hours and 47 minutes behind ours, so there's plenty of time).

Sorry Korky but Matron has been in touch by phone and asked me not to let you have POTW again, as she needs to check on any image you have 'seemed' to have won a competition.

Unfortunately she found viewing your image after consuming "a little" alcohol rather a problem, it wasn't the dizziness or the her fear of corn ears (apparently she was known as Corn Ears at school owing to "not lisnin' a lot in class" ) but she discovered that she had mislaid her underwear somewhere and blames your picture for having hypnotic powers and is worried you might win the POTW again.

I pointed out as you are currently taking part in what is know as a 52 she might well see another POTW, at that point she screamed, mumbled something and I think fainted  (that's 'fainted') - I believe Matron was getting her numbers mixed up as the last thing she mumbled was something about 52 being only 17 off her worst fears ???

I trust she has improved?
