Pictures mean different things to different people. They can be created by an artist, a photographer, a writer, an actor on stage or flowing out of the box in your living room but how each of us as individuals view them won't be the same.

 

We interact with others who we feel we share a common ground with but do we really? 

Do I see a picture here on TIPF and think the same as you?

Does a rural landscape image have an emotional pull to someone who loves the city?

Does a picture of child mean the same to a young single person as it does to someone who is married and has brought up a child?

 

Does it matter?

Is a good photograph a good photograph no matter what?

 

I hope so.

I hope if we take a picture because we saw something, felt something and wanted to portray it that it does mean something to others.

 

Where am I going with this?

 

When I saw this shot I didn't see a fly.

I saw shapes, forms, composition, light, textures and colours - what I saw was a photograph taken by someone else that I connected with.

 

That - that connection - is why I take pictures, share pictures and want to be a part of something where others do the same.

 

Its a fly - but really it is why we are here:
