The cattle encountered on our new local (lottery funded) walk and cycleway are larger than many but appear docile enough......this one, although feeding had a wary eye on us:

Hereford's are one of the most docile breeds.. not much there to graze on.

Yes I can agree with that, they don't look at you with the evil eye like the black and white cattle.....always wary of them....

.......Feed?.......The farmer had obviously put his beasts into a mixture of stubble and grass feeds with an open gate between, whilst we were there the majority chose the stubble......I can only think that there are certain tender weeds coming through that cattle enjoy?.......Oh yes.....there s also a large circular hay/ silage byre in the stubble field.....so there s no danger of them going hungry....

I guess the farmer is allowing them to eat as much natural food before the promised hard winter starts with a vngeance?

Haven't seen the long term forecast?........It ain't pretty........SO BE PREPARED.

I seem to remember about three weekends back they were forecasting an indian summer starting on the Monday which didn't happen, if they can't even forcast two days ahead what chance of forecasting the winter ahead. Here's my forecast... plenty of mild wet and windy weather.
