The harsh sunlight and steam obscuring the carriages killed a lot of my shots but I guess that's photography!

Nice to see the younger members getting out in the cold and shooting a few pictures, although a few Togs did moan about him being in the way

Steam  power...gorgeous :)

I take it  that it was an announced run Colin.. what with the other togs in attendance ?

Hi Denis - Kings Cross to Lincoln with a 3 hour stop over in Lincoln than back to London via Newark with all tickets being sold out quite some time ago. I shot these pictures at Rowston, very small village between Sleaford and Lincoln, accessed by a very frosty and slippery C road and there were about half a dozen other Togs there. The location is good for long shots with a curved line and train coming out from under a bridge but the harsh sun, dark shadows and masses of steam due to the cold weather didn't help. my second choice of location was Metheringham station which is usually very busy but apparently was very quiet!

Well. WAS it a Gresley A4 Pacific... or not? Or don't you know? Or don't you care?  ("I read the post, yawned, and when I woke up, I'd forgotten the question" )

I assume your question was rhetorical but just for you...

It is a Pacific 4-6-2 locomotive to the same design by Sir Nigel Gresley as the more famous Mallard (which still holds the record for the worlds fastest steam train) and is one of six to survive into preservation and is one of three currently certified for mainline use.

Sorry you found my earlier reply to Denis so boring - have a Happy last day of 2014. :ass::)

All six of em

And what a pain in  the butt stiching all these together

Best viewed big

I could watch these all day just like I did as a kid

A streak of white smoke in the distance

Then all noise as the streak flashed by

Useually Merlin but sometimes it was Bittern or very rarely the dominion of new Zealand

You have captured the white smoke of a streak spot on here

Happy sunny days

TOTAL misunderstanding!! That extra bit in brackets was me putting words into YOUR head - hence the quotation marks - i.e. YOUR (supposed) reaction to reading MY boring question about what kind of locomotive it was!!!!!!
