Bloomin' Birds

Recommended Posts

A birder I am not, I have a camera that can do it and the AF-S 70-300mm VR is a decent bit of glass if you're close enough but I just don't shoot birds enough to have built up the anticipation of their movement and be able to predict what they'll do then get a shot.

I took these yesterday while wandering along the coast to collect my owl poo.

While I was ranting at birds for not being close enough and being a bit flighty I had a go shooting a bee - not easy with a 300mm.

Nice  set BP, you nailed the wood pigeon and bee...9 point auto focus BP?

Yep - 9 Point AF

Its the sweet spot on the Nikon 51 Point AF Systems where you have a little leeway when things are moving around but still have AF tracking performance which you lose as you activate more points. They're all cross type sensors too so you get maximum accuracy. As much as I love my K30 I miss the Nikon's AF abilities every time I use it, that and the superb ergonomics and well thought through button layout.

Thanks for posting that BP, I have not yet managed to shoot a Bee pic with my 300mm that I'm happy with but after seeing your above I will try the 9 Point.
