I did wonder what I might see on opening this thread, but it's perhaps the most unusal image I've every seen. (A bit of pareidolia creeping in, but the shape reminds me of a dolphin).

No idea what sort of bird might have done it, but at the coast, maybe a seabird... :yes

It's a ....crap....photo BP..... ;-)

Only joking!

I think ....regurgitated pellet is the answer, a bit like the regurgitated hair balls of a moggie after eating grass ( as they do) , the getting rid of indigestible bits and pieces.

It was probably about an inch long and although its difficult to see from this shot it was made up from tiny insect like tubes.

If its still there today I might pick it up and do the warm water thing, yes the boys will love and and you're right the wife won't.

Thanks

I went down to the coast this morning and the same pellet from yesterday was still there - so I brought it home and got a sharper image, this time with a 1p coin for scale.

There was another one on the next bench but it was a bit wet still and fell to bits.

Pity there was nothing more exciting in there BP.

This little Owl obviously visits someones bird table or garden all those tubes and bits of tube are meal worms probably turned black having been through the Owl.

Anyways good the boys enjoyed it.
