well I was invited down to Elite Thai boxing in Bolton (they do regular boxing too)

 

I must admit this was a challenge, loads of excuses but the main one was getting close without getting punched.... at first I tried the 50mm but no good, then I went for the kit lens, just enough zoom...

they are pretty crap I agree, was my 1st go at something totally new..... oh and I cant understand why but the guy in the 1st picture his name is TANK!

 

I will be returning in the next few weeks, I will get it right :)

Leon - Good to see you having a go at what I think is a difficult subject to photograph.

 

if you need any tips and are not already doing so use spot focus, move the cameras' focus point off center so you can get it on least one fighter. 

 

needless to say use the fastest shutter speed you can

 

and I find it helpful to use a small step ladder with your back against a wall or something to give you support, this also means you should be out of harms way.

 

Once you get the hang try it at a fight where you have the extra problem of a referee jumping in front of you just at the wrong times  :huh:
