Some classic boxing action shots Colin, I really like the Mono one

Cheers David - I have converted a few to B/W but most just don't seem to work as well.

I get that too. I find I have to choose images with a lot of depth or B/W can flatten them. Might be just my limited experience with mono though

A great set of action shots, Colin.

I like the last one in particular as you caught it just at the right moment to get the movement of the other boxer flying backwards.

Thank you Nanny, I know some people will not like the blur but I try to convey movement as opposed to a 'frozen' shot, although it is a fine line between to little and too much.

As a peace loving old hippy, boxing is another thing I just don't 'get'. It's always struck me (no pun intended) as being quite barbaric. But...

 

This is a smashing set of images from what must've been a very difficult subject to photograph. Regardless of my opinions, the crowd seem to be loving it.

Korky I don't disagree and at times I found this to be a brutal event, but surprisingly I also witnessed much respect between all the boxers of opposing teams and some very fair sportsmanship before and after away from the ring. In some ways it's I find it hard to understand why people wish to hammer each other around for public sport but seeing the care and wealth-fair behind the scenes made me think again.

That first one is certainly my choice from the set but the colour ones are also very good. All have the movement and impact that you'd expect from a contact sport.

 

I'm also liking the different expressions in the audience. Some appear to be nervous, others almost baying for blood!

well observed Bugs, I also shot a few pictures of the audience, one lady in particular looked very animated I thought at one point she might even jump in and join the fight!
