Update from Kobione (Dee) Downunder ....

Recommended Posts

Kobione , or Dee, as most of us know her as,  rang me yesterday to explain why she  hasn't been able to post photos much over the past months.  Dee has been a stalwart of the Forum  since it first started  and despite living on the other side of the globe  has managed to  become an integral part  of a community where the majority of the members  live in the UK ( though Cheryl  is another Aussie  regular)

Many of you will have followed  her pictorial adventures  in the Outback over the years and also be aware that recently she lost her life long partner and husband after nursing   him  through his illness . She then  found a much needed  bit of time  to look after herself and have a long overdue Hip replacement operation  and at the same time  sell  up and move from the outback to a place nearer her son and his family. A  feat many of us would have found totally daunting  in itself but amazingly she recovered  well from the surgery and seemed to settle quickly  into her new life . Unfortunately  there have been some complications that have recently  made walking become progressively more painful resulting  in her having to undergo more surgery  on the 6th August.

Dee never complains and is usually very much a "glass half full " person despite having endured  some of the most stressful   events back to back in a short space of time  and  I know she, like many of us , has found comfort and friendship with the members of this community. She just wanted  to explain why  she hadn't been able  to post  photographs  for a while ...Well Lockdown has affected  a lot of us  over the past 18 months and our ability to use our cameras  like we used to  so I have reassured  her she doesn't have to post a picture to remain part of his  community. She gave me permission  to post this explanation on her behalf ... and I just want her to know that she has our support and best wishes  for her surgery on August the 6th  and  that  we hope to hear from her after  that, just  as soon as she  can get near a computer. Meanwhile you could always take a few portraits of those two gorgeous mutts who live with you  Dee !  We never tire of seeing them ....😉

Thanks for that Polly….it is around a month now since Dee phoned me to explain her current situation…. Such a very strong lady…..

Me? ….I would call it….just ticking along……I had a major health scare, requiring an emergency ambulance and crew of three…. I had a major nose haemorrhage, they monitored  me for over two hours until It and I stabilised…. I spent most of the next day in A & E being prepared for nasal cauterisation…. Not the nicest of procedures…..the hot weather, plus my record high blood pressure were the causes….

All part of getting very old apparently….

Thanks for the update - we all seem to find times where we don't get around to much and the reasons are each person comes first, and the rest can take a back seat because oneself is the most important.

Stay strong Dee and we'll all see you soon x

Paul.

Thank you so much for the positive and supportive comments.

I am now trying to be back on here more, but cannot take pictures too well, because I can't bend down or even stand very still. I do still feel to be a part of this fantastic place so will do what I can.

Only 13 more days to go until surgery, and hopefully it will sort out the painful issue.

You don't have to post photos to  to remain as welcome as ever on here Dee.... We  miss you regardless so don't worry about  not getting out and about with your camera ... I bet the 6th of August can't  come fast enough ... Keeping my fingers crossed that all will be resolved after surgery again ... meanwhile stay vigilant and safe from Covid .... the last thing you need is for that to postpone  things ...xx
