Went to Pistyll Rhaeadr actually, but got better shots at the lake 

Went to the "other" end away from the Dam

Looks like a beautiful place.

I prefer the composition in #2. There’s something about the tree growing on a small island right where the two hills meet in #1 that bothers me.

Unfortunately I had to climb down off the road onto a small shingle beach by the mouth of a stream and was very limited as to the angle I could safely get - having said that, it was the tree that I wanted to catch and it was just a shame the wind was rippling the water otherwise I would have got a great reflection

Yea. I can appreciate how limited we often when composing images by terrain and obstacles.

It's a couple of years since I ventured over to Lake Vyrnwy...stayed overnight at the hotel... It's a lovely area to capture  the vistas that Wales is renown for.... Lovely reflections in the foreground too.
