Common birds at Leighton Moss (+1 that you'll have to take my word for!)

Recommended Posts

Gillian, Rachel and I went to Leighton Moss RSPB, and got a few hours enjoyment, and some common birds...

I think a chaffinch which turned it's back on us, the obligatory robin, a coal tit which buggered off I pressed the shutter button, the blue tit which is always the cutey, and also the remarkable, though due to distance and cheap optics virtually unrecognizable but definitely, the male marsh harrier (only 400 breeding pairs in the UK at the last count). You can't tell really, but I saw it clearly, it's just the cheap 55-250 lens that cannot do enough to show it, but I'm very pleased to have seen it!

Fantastic that you saw a Marsh Harrier Paul... I know that feeling  of ..right time wrong lense    or right lense  .....  but just not quick enough  ! lol  Love the Chaffinch's  Bolshie attitude   too !🤣

The harrier is a special bird and a sighting is wonderful, especially as it's the first time at Leighton Moss in a long time for us.

Tonight, it makes me wonder if I had already got that Sigma to use, how decent an image I may have gotten, but to be honest, just seeing the majestic swoop to landing in the reedbed was special enough.

Paul.
