Equipement Advice for planned trip to Iceland

Recommended Posts

So planning on a trip to Iceland (the country not the shop) and wondered what I should take:

Camera will be my Canon 90D, plus memory cards, spare battery and charger. I might also add my Canon  EOS 300 film camera into the mix + film...

Lenses I own:

2 x Canon 24-105mm f4 L

Canon 28-300mm  f/3.5-5.6L IS

Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary

Tokina 11-20mm f2.8

Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro

Sigma 30mm f1.4 Art

Canon EFS 55-250mm

I'm thinking of taking the Canon 28-300mm  f/3.5-5.6L IS, Tokina 11-20mm f2.8, Sigma 30mm f1.4 Art, my sister, who I'm going with, will probably take my Canon 800D + Canon 24-105mm f4 L + Canon EFS 55-250mm.

I'll probably buy the Lowepro Flipside 300 AW II as flight carry on as it's much smaller than my Lowepro 400 AW Flipside and several extra 128gb memory cards as I'm not planning on taking my laptop with me.

I think between the two of us, I think we should have everything covered. I'll probably stick my carbon fibre tripod in my luggage.

Would love to take the Sigma 150-600 but it's just too big and because it November I don't think the macro lens + flash + extension tubes will be worth taking.

I'll probably add some filters to this as it should fit in the Lowepro 300..

If you've got any other suggestions and what to take camera wise let me know.....

Unfortunately, we are only just emerging from solar minimum, so there's unlikely to be any big auroral displays (try again in 5 years time), but you'll have plenty of darkness in November and there will probably be something, so a fast wide lens would be a good idea. I don't know if the Tokina is fast enough to avoid motion (even though I work in space weather I've never seen an aurora).
