It's pretty impressive that you managed to get into position to take this photo. It's a great photo and looks good in black and white. I looked up Lumb Falls and see its in Yorkshire.  Are the falls always frozen like that in winter?

Not they're not...it's been a very cold spell that we don't get very often. Yes it was awkward climbing down to that spot....i struggled the first time last Autumn, this it was pretty hairy cause of the ice and a point where you don't care about clean cloths with kneeling and grabbing roots etc for safety!

Thank you...sadly not. The freeze isn't always that common and when it has been can go very quickly. This years freeze was longer so gave waterfalls etc chance to build up.

Nice one, and it obviously took a bit of effort to get that shot - you did well!

Thanks. Yes it was awkward for sure cause of the ice underfoot this time. It's still an effort even in normal circumstances!

Hats off to you  .. That's dedication for you !!

Thanks....sadly unless your aware of the area it's difficult to know how vast the ice was!

Sometimes  a person in an image can really   help with  perspective especially  showing the size of something like this ... which is ironic as we are so often  frustrated  by  people  getting in the way  of our landscape photography aren't we ... :wallbash:

;)
