BLACK AND WHITE PORTRAITURE

During the recent lockdown, I have been studying the excellent mono portraits of  Photographer JANE BOWN... who never ever used flash, worked quickly and produced the goods for the OBSERVER Magazine for years.... he book...EXPOSURES... is a revelation....a must have..... I treasure my copy.

‘My LUMIX GX 9 comes in for praise here too...the MONO M L setting is fantastic.... great results straight from camera....

That's a very nicely exposed portrait Fooj... yes  ..I remember Jane Bown's  photography well from the 70's especially     and her iconic portrait of the playwright Samuel Beckett . Although she is best known for her  celebrity photos  I liked her photos that were of ordinary people and things she saw in everyday life ...  She was, it was said, the English version of  Cartier- Bresson.   That's a fitting homage to her Fooj ... well caught..

Thank you Fogey......It would take a lot to separate me from my current set-up, for mono.... my FUJI GX9 is fixed in that mode.....I might occasionally go vintage manual with the lens, but not often.... I need to be in the mood for that...
