Telescope Live

Recommended Posts

May interest a few of you....

I recently started a free trial of Telescope Live.

Seems an easy way of getting onto astrophotography if you don't own any equipment.

In short, you sign up and request photos of the point in space you want.  People with the equipment take the image and send you the results.  I know you miss out on the fun bit of actually taking an image. But you get access to the individual exposures as FITS files ( not a format I have come across but apparently common on this type of photography ) for each filter as well as a processed JPG from them. You can then play around with these as you wish.  Starts from £4 a month. I've only tried the free trial so can't comment on what the different plans get you.

I just received images from the orion nebula from a telescope that cost $140,000.  A piece of kit I think its fair to say my other half would not let me purchase!

Plus, no bank details are asked for to start the free trial. 😉
