Some very nice colour has starting to emerge in my 'new garden', I have been waiting to see what colour they come out as:

No way I could grow these where I lived before, so I'm going to enjoy looking at these.

Isn't the colour determined by the soil or something Dee?

Our turn out a dull lilac colour, only once were they as in your first image.

Their natural colour is white.  The blues are obtained by putting diluted aluminium sulphate altering the PH of the soil.  Rusty metal also has an effect on the colour.

Yes, you are both correct, I have not added anything to the soil and have just been waiting to see how they do turn out - both in the same flower bed, but at opposite ends.
