October 14 in Close Up and Macro
Taken a few years ago
Is it a close up shot or a "long-lens" macro?
Whichever, the result is very nice.
For some reason bees just don't look aerodynamically suited to flying whilst actually in flight as they always seem to have their legs dangling down and appear to look really clumsy don't they? It almost looks like it is about to pounce like a cat !😄 Well caught all the same Fogey ...
I was using my 300mm lens James, at 300 mm. The bee was just outside the minimum focal distance and I used my Ambush technique to capture it.
I have noticed that when a bee leaves a flower, it will invariably fly backwards to reorient itself and that's the time to ambush the little blighters.
