According to the RSPB website they can be seen all year round in the Lake District, Lancashire and Yorkshire, Wales, parts of the South West and Scotland, they are not as common in the midlands and south, south east of England.

The ones pictured here are females, the males have a green head like male mallards.

Nice set Rye - don't think I've ever seen one of those Goosanders, and your Egret doesn't look pleased you are taking his picture in the first one of him!

Thanks Kobione, I don't think you have Goosanders in Australia, he does look a bit grumpy.
