F-16 Fighting Falcon

Popped into RAF Lakenheath on our way to Norfolk in the campervan last week, surprised to see eighteen  F-16 Fightings Falcons from the 31st Fighter Group usually based in Aviano, Italy and are here for a month.  The aircraft are from 510th Fighter Squadron "Buzzards" and the 555th Fighter Squadron "Triple Nickle".

That's a great set Denis.  I particularly like the last two with the hat haze from the afterburner.

Yes John, there is a dedicated viewing area at the end of the runway, we were going past and pulled in to make a cup of tea on the journey..then I turned on my freedar app and saw the F-16's on their way back from an exercise so out came the camera. Believe it or not all these were taken through a thick wire chainlink fence, but as the 200-500mm lens was right up to the wire is does not show up !

Excellent Denis - like Rye with the steam trains it's a subject I can't get to see here, so well done. Agree that the last two are great!!

Thanks all, I forgot to add that these are from the USAFE, United States Air Force in Europe...just in case anyone thought they were RAF and we actually still did have an Air Force

last two for me, shows the Power of a Jet engine.

I used to have a job where I could spend an hour at the Air Force base in Anglesey, sadly though my timing was pretty crap.
