IT’S A SMALL WORLD

My £25 mini macro lens, doing its stuff again.....

Seed heads and tiny buds are a favourite target, but the spider was a bonus... it has been busy spinning a very large web, when I disturbed it; it ran to hide under a leaf.

I waited patiently for it to settle, then by manouvring it’s branch a little further up, I was able to turn him into the light and then contort myself to get my lens it’s one inch from those spiky legs to manually focus.....all very challenging indeed.

The lens is a tiny, vintage Cine camera lens, set at f11 to gain max depth of field....if you have a micro-four-thirds ...system it is very easy to fit odd lenses, by using standard adapters, bottle tops and hot glue....

The lens had a single extension ring fitted..... the bright sunlight was my only light.

Thank you Robin....

The lens is tiny........ vintage ex Cine camera lens...hot glued into a bottle top, then to an M42 adapter.....I can add one to three extension rings... F11 gives best DOF ... bright sunlight is good, but Czn use a flash if dull.

A challenge, but great fun.

Your Dylan would love to have a go.... get on eBay for a...Kern-Palliard 2.4 - 36mm cine lens .... mine was circa £25 ... plus an M 42 adapter, a black plastic bottle top and hot glue...

Take great care not to get hot glue on the lens elements of focus ring ... I set mine to max zoom... F11  plus a single extension ring for these shots.
