I keep this bookmarked as I never tire of it, I saw Dire Straits several times in the past, also Mark Knopfler four times since Dire Straits disbanded. The same can be said for Hank Marvin both with and without The Shadows several times. I expect the younger members will think what an old fuddy duddy...

John

When I was much, much younger I wouldn't have been caught dead with a Hank Marvin track playing. Now I've grown up, I realise what a great guitarist he was.

If you haven't already, check out Mark Knopfler's album with Emmy Lou Harris - "All The Roadrunning'. On YouTube no doubt.

Such a great pity about Knopfler's headband!!!!

Korky... I have 'All The Roadrunning' on both CD and DVD, Mark doesn't need a headband these days as his hair as diminished somewhat.

Nice to see some new additions to this thread. Two good choices there John & BP. I enjoyed them both.

Yours was a little predictable, John. Come on, give us summat we're not expecting.

'Mott The Hoople' was a local group and I knew the guitarist Mick Ralphs, we were both apprentice electricians in the 1960's and worked for the then Midlands Electricity Board (MEB). At that time he played in a group called 'The Buddies', another apprentice electrician based at MEB Leominster Depot was also a member of the 'Buddies', they did local gigs at weekends mostly. Mick Ralphs didn't finish his apprenticeship, he only had a few months to go but music was in his blood and he spent more time at work playing the air guitar than rewiring houses etc. He left the MEB to help form 'Mott The Hoople' and was lead guitarist, he eventually left the group and joined 'Bad Company'. I believe 'Mott The Hoople' have reformed to do a few dates later this year.
