RAF Lakenheath and the 48th Fighter Wing.

On our way home from Norfolk we crossed into Suffolk and parked in the viewing area of RAF Lakenheath, an American USAFE base that is home to the 48th FW. over 5500 personnel are stationed at 'Little America' and operate the McDonnel-Douglas F-15E and F-15C variants. the dedicated Viewing area provides good photo opportunities to catch the 'Liberty Wing' doing what they do best !

A super set Denis ....I used to go regularly to the Airshows at the American Bases when we lived in Suffolk at Capel st Mary.. I 've got snapshops from the 70's and very early 80's of  the kids and hubby somewhere... I don't think I exist on a photo that I own, for about twenty years as I was the one that always had the camera .. 

 It really does look like a good viewing area there ... some  nice shots  Denis...

Looks like almost all of the bigger air shows for this year have been cancelled, like most events this year.

I believe they have

im lucky in my view as I live in the low fly zone of the fens between Lakenheath, mildenhall, marham And coningsby. Every week day there’s  aircraft over head.

Jealous me .... we do get F15's flying over head but usually they are too high to bother with even my longs lens but they do make some noise! Well caught.
