Not often I see the ornithological side of your photographic prowess Beepy ?.. what a smashing set... love that complementary background rendering in the third pic especially showing off all his well preened plumage but the 2nd image Is just lovely with great light and super separation...   so what lens / camera did you use this time ..?

Excellent shots, I've often found Chaffinches to be quite used to people and don't mind us being around and they tend to sit in one place for a longish time - a bit like Robins but unlike Tits which fly in and out...

Used my X-T3 and 55-200mm though it was so close I had to pull the lens back from the long end a few times and even step back to get focus.
