I think that's who the eagle was named after, loki ....  He was quite  magnificent specimen and certainly appeared more graceful in flight than his namesake did in those Winter Olympics ...bless him ...  Here he is taking off ....a few minutes later.....

I'm not too good with Birds in flight I'm afraid ... need a lot more practice  with things that move so erratically  !:lol: Here's Eddie  flying towards his handler ....  hmmm  just as well I've had one eye fixed last week eh .... ;)

The name for Eddie (the Eagle) came from his surname Edwards, I was also known at school as 'Eddie' from my surname Edwardson...

Eddie "the Eagle" was a sarcastic reference to his jumping style (in that he wasn't very good, nor did he soar like an eagle). Following the 1988 Winter Games, the IOC instituted what is known as the "Eddie the Eagle Rule." It requires Olympic hopefuls to finish in the top half of an international competition, effectively eliminating Edwards from future Olympic Games.
