The composition works well with the path leading in - although I think I would have preferred to see the lighthouse in the exact centre.
An interesting shape lighthouse with straight sides rather than round.

the off center lighthouse does put the whole thing a little off kilter.  i really wish i'd lined everything up with the lighthouse dead center.  the corner of the shorter building was center so i would have had to move around to the beach and find another comp. to properly center the lighthouse.  i wish i'd done that and gotten a few more comps instead of getting back in the nice, warm car.  but i wasn't thinking so clearly that morning and reverted to my favorite trick - symmetry.

Lovely light Loki ... aha alliteration  also  ...

I rather like the slightly off centre position of the lighthouse... It grabs my attention maybe more than a perfectly centred  one would ... it would possibly be more predictable . The inky blue ocean makes a great contrast for the white horses too . Nice work Loki..

i would have preferred it centered, but i can settle for this.  plenty of white horses that day.  it was really cold and windy.  the next 4 days were a blanket of fog and mist (it was definitely mist, not rain drops, but it soaked through everything).  the land of fire and ice was more like the land of soup sandwiches the first few days of the trip.  but i still had a great time.

I like this as it is too.

To have had the lighthouse perfectly lined up with the path would have been great for symetrics ...but this makes it ...for want of a better word...quirky :)

hah, yes, this is definitely a quirky lighthouse.  the smaller part of the building was a restaurant.  weird thing about iceland, most of the businesses are only open from 10-4.  restaurants stay open a little later through the dinner hour.
