Another European Brown Hare

I really like it, John. Definitely would hang it on my wall. I’d try adding a bit of colour back into the grass but very desaturated to blend the hare with the surroundings a bit. Just a suggestion of course.

Was this hare living in the wild?

Top picture is very nice (looks a little over sharpened is it a heavy crop?).

2nd picture for me is a little off balanced but the quality and texture looks so much better than the first and would make a great print.

And if you need any ideas (or encouragement) you might like to look-up 'Hanna Dale' a very talented lady who's Lincolnshire based company goes from strength to strength :-

Thanks all for the comments.

Cheryl, I'm with you.  I came to the same conclusion too late in the day (Too much detailed work to separate the hare from the BG) and that is why the mono areas have had sepia added.  In retrospect, B/W was too stark.  The hare is wild.  The hills above Preston are a good area to catch them in, particularly in Spring when their attention is (for some reason) diverted.

Colin, not sure about the over sharpening.  It's the same lens/distance (aprox.) as the mono image Geoff has re posted and from memory, the only area that I applied sharpening to was around the eye.  Is that what you're seeing?  The mono image has done well.  It's been exhibited quite a lot as a Print and I could have sold a one or two but I never know what a reasonable price would be.  Bill might be of help there but I never thought to ask.  I think that if I were to re print it, I would give it a narrower frame.  The heavy dark grey frame now looks a bit overdone to me.
