Cool, it put our tiny native lizards to shame....

An interesting creature - how large was it?  (It looks about a foot, compared to the plants in the background?)

Is that its permanent colour or has it changed colour to match the path?  Fascinating animal though.

I'm not sure John, too much of a match to be coincidental, but Bluestone is the common base rock over there and perhaps they evolved to blend in with that colour to camoflage while basking on rocks?

They cross the path to bathe in the sea then return to the rocks around the area apparently.
