The Flying Scotsman - or NOT! (Image heavy)

Wandered down to Preston Station this evening in the expectation of seeing the Scotsman on its way home.  When I got there,  the train was early, on a different platform to that published and it was being hauled by two diesel locomotives.  Scotsman was apparently bedding down at Carnforth Steam Town for the night.  Still since I was there I spent a bit of time wandering the platforms to make the most of the opportunity.  All taken at ISO 1600 and so I'm quite pleased with the quality.

1.  All change for the Lake District.

2.  Scotsman Fine Dining. (£200 per ticket)

3.  The next train on Platform 4 will be ....................

4.  The 17.05 for Glasgow (17 minutes late)

5.  Drivers all change.

An interesting set of shots John, the Flying Scotsman will be on the East Lancs Railway next year in May (8th-10th) and again in September (26-27th) 2020

Great train images but the station looks just as interesting, bet it was something special in its day.

Interesting set, John. Good quality for 1600ISO. #4 is my favourite for the mono conversion and showing building roof structure.

Thanks all for the comments.  I go down to the station from time to time because there is always something that catches my eye.  I have been warned off before now with the Prevention of Terrorism Act being quoted but I approached the station manager and he was OK provided I didn't annoy the passengers.

Thanks for that Geoff.  Oddly enough, recently I was watching a series called "Steam Train Britain" on the Yesterday Channel that featured the ELR quite heavily.  It seems to be a substantial undertaking.

A nice set John - I've been having the same problem with steam engines breaking down and diesel replacements, so far manages 1 decent set out of 4 engines.
