CHRISTMAS BRASS

[FUJI]

A small Brass ensemble played Christmas Music in our local Waitrose yesterday; they were all students from nearby Warwick University.

I received permission from them to shoot a few photographs.

These are the ones I'm  most pleased with...

 

1: Processed to HDR colour, then converted and processed in mono

2: A colour study of part of the group, my Olympus  45/90 mm - 1.8  portrait lens giving excellent separation and clarity...if you have an M 4/3 rds camera I can highly recommend it.

3: A first time use of the ...Pinhole... filter in Silver Efex

4: A second colour study with similar separation as the first.

Nice series Fuj.  The trouble is that when someone mentions Christmas Brass in this house, it's the spending kind that they have in mind.

I fixed the last image for you Fuji - uploaded as a .PSD rather than a .JPG.
Or was it not meant to be there at all?  (Not mentioned in the text.)
Let me know if you want it deleted.

An interesting set of images: I like the dramatic mono conversions. I’m interested in your processing of #1. Why the HDR processing then conversion to black & white?

The PSD file wasn’t meant to be there...it just snook in somehow....no worries.

Thank you for the interesting feedback CM...

The original colour version, wasn’t that exciting...but I have discovered that the hdr treatment. An boost contrast and definition, both before and after mono conversion....a few tweaks in Silver Efex afterwards can make all the difference.... here it really worked.
