Streamliners at Shildon

I took the kids to the National Railway Museum at Shildon today - mainly to give them something to do other than fight :)

Apparently itd the 70th anniversary of the Mallard's record breaking run and the Railway Museum is going to display all of the streamliners together to celebrate it. The Dominion of Canada and the Dwight D Eisenhower are now at Shildon for a cosmetic restoration before joining Mallard and Sir Nigel Gresley on display (probably at York). They've been lent by their respective Museums in Canada and Wisconson, where they went in the 1960's

Apparently the local youths seem to think they are there for target practice :( So they'll be moved indoors ASAP

He will probably know already but I will have to pass this onto my railway-anorak brother, I can see him wanting to head up to York to see them all.

You can tell him that you can view the workshops from inside :) They are re-making the original running numbers for them at the moment, I believe they will all be done in their original liveries
