Taken a few weeks back, the iconic Thwaites Brewery Tower in Blackburn as it was being demolished - it's now completely gone.....

Sometimes  it is said that a photograph  captures one specific moment in time and in it's way it is unique , sometimes it is a moment of beauty...or an incredible coincidence, or a record of something amazingly rare .  Occasionally we get to photograph something that historically  defines a place but will no longer be part of it after it's removal or demolition ... I recall the iconic cooling towers I used to drive past  on the motorway  near Sheffield and  the dramatic change in the view when they were removed.. Taking a photo of such a place  in the midst of it's demise  and later, of the space that is left, puts this picture  into   a special category  that could be labelled , "I was there when ..." I hope you can take another pic for your records of the same place now it has gone completely Rye  . Maybe you already have ...It's a couple of images that  are archive material  for the future .

Thanks Clicker, they had to postpone the demolition of the tower as a pair of Peregrine Falcons setup a nest so they had to wait for the chicks to fledge.

The cooling towers at Tinsley is just down the road from me and they were blown 11 years ago now which is frightening in itself. I was too busy watching them come down to take any shots .

Great shot Rye both beauty and sadness in one shot when iconic buildings fall and like the cooling towers one fought to stay up there was a small section remained after the demolition which had to be brought down manually.

They had to bring the tower down almost brick by brick as there is a busy main road through Blackburn behind the tower.

Interesting capture Geoff.  It's always worth taking shots like these for posterity.  Might have been worth a series to record the ongoing event.
