I love these strange constructions from an era when such things were not criticised as being a waste of money ! another quirk of the British :)

Interested to know why the Royal Air Force Ensign is flying at this location though. We were gently chided for flying it over the airfield memorial at former RAF Hunsdon. We received this line from the RAF : The RAF Ensign may not be used as bunting or decoration, or draped over a coffin, except at civilian funerals. In the latter case, only the Union Flag may be used at a British military funeral.

The map says Royal navy but i think the air force is also there, the flags fly for special occasions

We really like Cleethorpes, must go and find Ross Castle next time we are there and then off to the Seaway for some Fish & Chips and then walk up to the 2nd hand shop that sells books, got Cecil Beatons book of pics for £2 last time.
