I just cant believe that these were shot through a 3 mm hole drilled in a redundant lens cap which has been placed over the end of the Adapted  f 2.8 - 90 mm Leica Slide Projector lens.

I haven't a clue how it works...but it does.

All manually focused, full size, as shot plus my usual post RAW processing.

Nice series Fuj.  I'm guessing that it must be the equivalent to stopping down the lens to the extreme.  Certainly produces a good result.  What sort of shutter speed does it need?  I assume from the absence of noise, the ISO is quite low.

Thank you both......just how it works is a complete mystery to me..... my ex-pro photographer advisor promises to tell me if I buy him a coffee next time we meet.

I haven’t tried using natural light yet....a tripod and slow shutter speeds will be the order of the day.....

Here I used my tiny MEIKE flash so shutter speed is lightning fast owing to the synchronisation.

Yes, it is basically equivalent to stopping the lens down to about f/30. (3mm aperture divided by 90mm focal length). From the looks of the images you've done a good job with the hole -- is there any thinning of the edges? (otherwise you might get quite bad flare with sunlight).

While placing the aperture stop in front of the lens is not as good as placing it between the components, it is reasonably good. I've not tried to do the optics to figure out why in front is better than behind, but the accepted wisdom in large-format photography, where some lenses (notably the Schneider Symmar) can be used with just one component to get a longer focal length, is that the rear component works better than the front.

Thank you James..... it is slowly becoming clearer....
