Following the surprising success of my DIY Macro lenses, I decided to explore further the use of a flash.

Something I haven't done since selling all of my old SONY and macro gear.

You might recall that I constructed a number of excellent flash diffusers that gave good results.

So earlier today I faffed around in my workshop to find a working solution for my M 4/3 rds gear....after three complete disasters that totally blew out any shot taken, I went right back to basics.

Simply a small sheet of printer paper held with an elastic band over the flash head...it WORKED...much better that expected, because that tiny Cine Camera lens is only two inches long.

The results, speak for themselves.

The stormy weather has driven me indoors just now...but expect more soon.

I've moved away from flash these days preferring an LED panel for most work. The continuous light makes framing and focus easier and the large panels give a nice wrap-around lighting.

Something like this...
