A jay from today, a member of the corvid family (along with Jackdaws, Magpies, Crows and Ravens), they're probably the most secretive and shy birds of all corvids... (What's the betting that when it comes to A-Z Challenge J I won't see any...??)

Yeah I bet that does happen too 😉

 Some nice background bokeh in both of these Rye ... ..

 He does look ready to take flight any second .... always so nervous for a big bird it seems ..

I don't think I've ever seen one of those.  (I seem to say that a lot, don't I?)

The first pose is by far the best.  As Polly said - the background bokeh is very nice.

Thanks Clicker, it was quite dark when I took these yesterday, so had to use f6.3, which was the smallest aperture available at 600mm. I was sat in the footwell of the car and didn't dare stand up in case I frightened it off.

Thanks Gareth, they are quite common but they are very shy and secretive, you usually see the blue flash on their wings as they fly away.
