Well aren't you lucky? I can't remember the last time I saw a  hedgehog ... is this the first time you've caught him so to speak..  they love cat food apparently so maybe you can  entice him for some more photos .. Was he after the apples for his dessert  James ? ;)

I see them[*] fairly often, but usually in the evening when it's almost dark, this was in the morning as I was getting breakfast.

Only problem with cat food is that there are far too many cats about. I think he'd have a tummy ache with the apples at this stage, they're about a month short of ripening.

[*] On one occasion, three came under the fence and went on  their way with too little time to be one seen several times.

Their numbers do seem to be dwindling pretty rapidly ...... ... W e mess about with the balance of Nature at our peril  I fear ....  Lovely t see they are at least  surviving near you James ....

Sadly not seen one for a few years now, so to see that a few lucky people get to see them is great. An ideal reason to get one of those garden cameras that get triggered by movement.
