Ektachrome

Recommended Posts

I hadn't realised Ektachrome was available again.
You mentioned 'lab scans', James.  It's a long time since I last shot film - the scanned images on CD that Jessops used to do from film were quite lo-res.  What size images can you get nowadays?

That's a film I used to use a great deal in a 120 - 6x9 format.  I didn't know it was available again either.  Used to use it in a couple of Ross Ensign cameras with their excellent Ross Express lens (and lousy Epsilon shutter). Used to have to drop it down half a stop to cope with the highlights but otherwise it was a great colour film.

Kodak Alaris reintroduced it in 35mm format last autumn, after about a year's delay from their original estimate. They are rumoured to be testing the coating process for 120 and sheet versions at the moment.

The high-resolution scans from AG Photolabs for 35mm are about 30 megapixels.

The new version is said to have more latitude than the earlier ones, but still less than colour print film. I  shot the roll at box speed.

Thanks, James.  AG Photolabs bookmarked for future reference in case I ever decide to shoot film again.
