Mass accent at sunset - how to process this?

I've tried LR and everything I can think of in PS, including LUTs and suchlike.
But I cannot get it to look like I remember it - getting dark but still with beautiful colours.
If you'd like to do something to improve this, I'd be happy to see what you can do

Is this getting closer, I used Nik Colour Efex - Details enhancer plus added a Graduated Neutral Density Filter to it....

My instinct would be to lose the clutter and pretend it's later than it in fact was.  Not an accurate record I know but ...........................  Done mainly with selective use of the curves tool.

Thank you, all - your pics look a lot better than mine and I love JohnTwo's picture, approaching it differently

I shall have another play with it this week and see if I can make a better job, with your suggestions in mind.
