Fountains Abbey...

Another much photographed location is the cellarium at Fountains Abbey, a National Trust property near Ripon in North Y*rkshire.

It really is a great place to visit as there's not only the abbey, but Studley Royal Water Gardens as well - the gardens have elevated the site to World Heritage status. If you've never been, put it on your list.

I couldn't believe my luck when I entered the cellarium to find I was the only person there. I got just about five minutes before a party of tourists arrived!

Really like this. It is easy to imagine a troop (?) of medieval monks chanting their way through the columns. You did so well to get it to yourself.

First class  Korks ...Perfectly composed ...and that   bit of processing has  lifted  what  were probably some darker shadows ... Did you find the ND filter  of any use  for this image ... It really is a fabulous  image ...and I dont believe you just found it empty ..I think  you wore your " more than my jobs worth " official guide's   hat and  instigated a practice  fire drill to get rid of all the tourists ... you did didn't yer  ...yer likkle devil..

Getting rid of people is easy - as long as you use a tripod.  Just take several shots and merge them in Photoshop.

The cellarium was actually empty when I arrived, so very easy to get a few shots free of people.

Very nice Korky! Love the light rays coming in on the right and putting that far window in the perfect spot. Lucky you to have it all to yourself to get this.
