Still not sure what I'm looking at - they appear to be growing out of a carpet of some sort.
I can see why you’d say it looks like carpet , Gareth. The rushes grow in a gully currently dry with no green growth at all despite recent rain. The mud has dried into a lumpy surface that looks like that carpet with varying pile so popular in the eighties: it’s even a similar colour soft greyish beige. The rushes are almost the same colour and the whole scene looks a bit strange and reminds me of an infrared photo.
I added a TOPAZ moderate Diffusion filter which softened it a bit but otherwise it’s representative of the scene.
I like the gentle colour of this one Cheryl - they look nice and soft, and the colour of the background is perfect.
