This is De Vere House:

This was used in the filming of "Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part One" as the house in Godric's Hollow where Harry Potter was born, but actually has some real history, with Henry VII having stayed there.

Its a couple of years since visited  Lavenham ....  We went especially  to buy  some furniture   there  but I didn't have my camera with me   on that day....unusually ... In the 70s I lived near Flatford Mill In Suffolk and  regularly went to Lavenham . They say familiarity breeds contempt ... and I certainly had forgotten  just how incredible  those buildings were .

These are a lovely reminder ...

Fascinating architecture, well captured. I knew nothing of this town but I have now added to my extensive list of places I must visit. Number four particularly caught my eye.

Thanks, David.  Number four is the "Crooked House".  It's now a tea room - and yes, we did pay it a visit.

An interesting set Gareth.  I'm glad people preserve these buildings.  Presumably they are privately owned but subject to preservation orders.  The upkeep must be horrendous.

Thanks, John.  Some of them are for sale, so I guess you're right about the ownership.

Thanks, Polly.  Ah... Flatford Mill - that's where "The Haywain" is, isn't it?

I must admit I'd never heard of this place either, some very interesting architecture.

Thanks, Geoff.  We'd been there once before a few years ago, but that was only a flying visit as part of a camera club tour of the Stour Valley.
We spent the weekend staying with friends who have bought a farm house near Stowmarket and they suggested it as a day trip as it's less than half an hour's drive from there.

A brilliant set from a placeI have been through countless times, and never had the chance to stop.

This is only just over an hour from my house but for some reason have never got around to spending some time there.

...going to have to put that right in a few weeks!
