Just printed myself some backdrop supports with my 3D printer and quite impressed with the results considering these images are taken on an iPhone 6, images are as taken with just a resize to fit the 1024 sizing no other editing

Cheers Richard I was struggling to get a sense of scale but thought if it was any bigger than A4 and with it being paper you would probably be losing support in the center.

A nice idea I may have to speak nicely to the nice people in the 3D division of our company.

Hi Richard,

That igneous  idea of yours has the potential to become very marketable as a very usable bit of kit for product or food photographers?

Its the kind of that could sell in great numbers if copyright/costs and marketing are worked out properly.

yes the supports are two separate pieces so it would probably hold a bigger sheet of paper, they could also be printed bigger. I used very thin a4 printer paper but a thicker paper could be used to add stiffness and reduce the light getting through.

As for the idea it wasn't mine but the design is a free design with no commercial restrictions so I could print and sell but to create these in volume they would probably need to be injection moulded so there would be set up costs.  If I print sets individually then I have two routes to go, I can use a simpler design that's easier and quicker to print or the more complex ones that will cost more. Maybe I could sell both designs

the next big question would be how much would people pay for a pair of these?
