As I've mentioned on a couple of previous posts, I'm still getting to grips with my camera, and learning more about the settings etc. Took a few photos while I was away last week, I'm quite pleased with some of them:

Please feel free to critique/advise/rip to shreds as applicable!

Hello Kerry - There's quite a dollop of photographs there, too many to comment on that's for sure.

Why not make a selection of the ones you think best, post those in the usual way (rather than a Flickr link) and then just sit back and wait for the comments. If you want constructive criticism, just ask and we'll oblige.

I'm pleased to see you taking part in the forum - photos, comments and banter are the lifeblood of TIPF, so just jump in and enjoy.

For me, the last shot doesn't work at all - it isn't a strong composition and overall has a somewhat drab feel about it. Perhaps some PP could rescue the shot. But.........

The other five shots are great. My favourite is shot one, the strong graphic shapes against the blue sky look terrific - nicely composed, too.

Shot two is far better with Rye's edit - all the negative space above the misty sea is very nice.

The shot of the bat is good but a little dark - a bit of a dodge over the bat would make it so much better.

The bird in the wall is also very good, I love how you've composed this. There's a white patch at top left - pigeon poo? - that's a bit eye-catching. A blob with the clone tool would solve the problem.

I've no idea how or what you use to process your images, I've assumed PS or PS Elements.

Hope all that helps.

Thanks @Korky, that's all very helpful. I know what you mean about the last shot; I really liked the piece of wood but I didn't  really know what to do with it to make it interesting.

Regarding the processing, they're all exactly as they came off the camera, apart from a little bit of cropping on the pigeon shot. I agree about the white mark, I'll have a play in PS to see if I can get rid of that. I think I could have shot at a higher ISO in the bat cave, I guess that would have helped. Again, I'll have a play with the dodge tool and see how I get on
