DAKOTA IN THE MIST

Hi All

I managed to get a spare couple of hours this morning so headed over to RAF Coningsby to catch the Dakota before it headed off to Sheffield for the Mi Amigo flypast. I thought she might be grounded as the fog had rolled in and was quite thick at times, then a brief gap opened up and she was away...

I would have preferred a nice clear morning, but I guess you have to work with what you get :-)

Great shots Colin.

Sadly couldn't get to the park to watch but watched on tv before heading to work, all very moving and a very sad story like many I have only just learnt about and a total piece of luck that this fly past memorial took place.

I had checked the flight paths and it was not passing us this side of the city, then as the fly past was finishing we heard a rumble in the sky as the Dakota and 2 of the jets went past on there way back out to base I was totally unprepared.

Just like Concorde, the Spitfire Lockheed Lightning and the Moaquito, The DC3 Dakota has perfect lines....all beautiful in the air

The contemporary planes that fit this bill, are...The Boeing 777 and the incredible Airbus A380 the giant but beautifully designed aircraft....one glides in very low over our house twice day, and then roars out again on the way back to Dubai.

Keep you Aircraft shots coming Colin.

Saw one of these as we walked around Tatton Park (very close to Manchester Airport) last week. It seemed to be just above the tops of the trees and it moved so slowly it was a wonder it was keeping airborne. A great sight that stopped us in our tracks!
