I can just imagine the muffled sounds of an occasional lap of the water that is almost millpond still which just adds to the ghostly , gauzelike almost gossamer feel of the  lake... lots of mystical atmosphere  Geoff... definitely worthy of wee dram , be it for celebratory   or medicinal  reasons .

Probably the most accurate description the be quoted in reference to your fine image Geoff, that is really something special :)

Yeah I was going to suggest that initially too Rye but those faint, but important, delicate ripples in that expanse of foreground would have been lost and to me they are an intrinsic part of that calmness. I agree . Geoff has got the format right in my opinion too...

A great atmospheric image Geoff, I was almost tempted to suggest a panoramic letterbox format, but after looking at it, it probably would of lost some of the quality of the mystical atmosphere.

Thanks Ryewolf,  I did trim a lot off the sky,  but felt to take more would bring the horizon too close to the centre? also the reflective light on the water was better than the rather dark and character less sky.

I'm glad he didn't ...as I thought the same at first  Rye, till I realised it would have  lost those, oh so subtle, ripples in the foreground that  add so much to the diaphanous quality that the water has ...

No It  doesn't look like it is a MONOTONE   but yes it does look like it is ...if that makes sense Cheryl ...

I think it makes sense, Polly. It has the appearance of a monotone but wasn’t created digitally.
