I hadn't realised it was a former royal residence.

It was the Prince Regents home for a while, but also a hospital for injured Indian soldiers during the war.  As a thank you to Brighton they payed for a whole new gate entrance.

I've been there once, many years ago - very unusual architecture for a British building.

I agree it is unusual for a British building.

Interesting looking building David, agree it does not look 'standard British', but a nice subject anyway.

Of all the years I have lived here, not once have I payed to go in.

Hi David ... is this the building that was known as Eastern Hospital  during (WW1) The Great War where  wounded soldiers were evacuated to  from Flanders  ? i I am interested  because I discovered my great Uncle  Pte  William Soutar KOSB was evacuated  to Eastern  Hospital  Brighton in October 1914. He subsequently died from his wounds and is buried in the Military section  of  Bear Rd Cemetery in Brighton .
