Common Plantain seed heads..

This was meant  to be my entry  for the  wild flower or plant challenge  but I  had misfiled it and missed the deadline  .. doh  I think I need a catalogue secretary

Love this Polly.....because those seed heads have fascinated me since I was a wartime brat who, with a regular group of pals were sent to wander at will through local fields and hedgerows....like savages we were.

Plantain also grows in Australia as it introduced by the English, I assume.

 It’s amazing what memories are triggered by often really obscure  images Fooj ...I can just imagine you with short trousers grazed knees with a conker on a string in one pocket and a toy rifle,whittled and fashioned from a suitably shaped Hazel branch ...happy days .

Absolutely spot on Polly......here I am circa 10 years old just post-war ...... short trousers, scabby knees....a telescope I acquired through Swaps.......Heaven !
