Thanks all for the comments.

Denis, I would have to go archive diving to find the original images but the base image is a shot of an obelisk near Ilkly in Yorkshire.  Rye recently posted a image of it.  The riders surround the base of a column in a square called Hősök tere in Budapest and the Blackbird was pinching strawberries in the garden.  The lightening was created in PS.  I found a tutorial covering how to do it on the internet.  As Clicks says, the whole thing was brought together using layers including the fog which was just swirls of low opacity white painted on a layer and then blurred.  Finally, it must have been raining that afternoon.

Well thank you John, as I said, very creative .. your explanation tells all and gives an insight into something that interests me

Not that I could ever do that myself?but I have created a 'then and now' image using layers in paint.net for a website. Thanks again.
