The 52 Project 2018 - Week 17

A couple of days ago I was given a wood carving by a friend - I decided to photograph it and then apply some grunge techniques I've been experimenting with over the last week or so.

I'm not fully convinced that it works as an image, but at this stage of the game it'll have to do.

I love what you usually do  Korks with textures ... you know I love to work with experimental overlays but this doesn’t work really for me .... and by the comment you made I can sense you have reservations too ...  it just seems the wrong texture to use with the wood and the  blue colour seems wrong somehow ... in my opinion ....love the carving btw ...  glad you posted though ... that’s what experimenting is all about ....trial and error.

You're right. And I know you're right. But I care not....... at least I've posted summat.

I think the carving may re-emerge another week.

Thanks for giving me a truthful comment!

This raven has been hanging around my yard for over a year. The lack of black feathers on the back of its head gives it a strange profile and enables easy identification: a rare thing with ravens. I believe it is nesting - its Spring here in Australia - and I hope to get some photos of the offspring.

Still quite limited with walking anywhere, but found some nice Autumn colour on our block, except it's Spring colour for us. Native Hop Bush starting to flower just across the drive. These don't get eaten, guess because of the rather 'grainy' texture of both leaves and flowers:
